Mother's Day Restorative and Reiki

You deserve R&R. This two-hour Restorative Yoga and Reiki healing session led by Ahoo and Fatameh will guide students through a practice that is a blend of restorative and yin yoga, using various props to support the body and promote deep relaxation. Heated stones will be placed on the body to aid in the healing, while Fatameh will use gentle touch to help guide Reiki energy to balance and heal.

At the end of the practice students will be led through a guided meditation. This workshop is for all levels of experience.

Attitude of Gratitude Thanksgiving Day Donation Based Class

Each year on Thanksgiving Day we host a donation based class, for 52 yogis, taught by one of our instructors. This year, Amanda, will be teaching, starting at 9:15 am, for a 75 minute class.

We are partnering with local organization, The Dharma Project, which provides yoga and mindfulness to communities that experience trauma. They have served over 1,100 people in Metro Atlanta, including incarcerated individuals, low-income high school students and staff, refugee girls and women, and the senior community.

Dharma Project provides tools for self-regulation, stress management, and rehabilitation to reduce recidivism and cultivate resilience.

Drumming and Yoga - Rhythm and Body

Korsi Yoga and Danny Stern are merging the transformational fires of yoga with the vibrational resonance of drumming and percussion, connecting body, mind and spirit, healing the inner most parts of our beings.

We will start the practice with a 45 minute all levels heated flow, enhanced by the rhythm of live drums, to prime the body for the meditative art of drumming. 

This will be followed by a lesson in song and drumming by Danny. We will learn a basic beat for us all to follow. Then we start the drumming session. 

Drumming and yoga form a natural partnership. The vibrating resonance of the drum seems to pull the practioner deeper into the practice. The drummer moves energy into space while the yogini moves energy though the body. 

All levels in yoga and drumming are welcomed and encouraged! If you have your own drum, bring it along! And, we will have extra drums for everyone.

Korsi Yoga is offering a mindful empowerment self-defense workshop to introduce basic self-defense, increase awareness and improve confidence in teenage boys.

Shea McBride, women's self defense trainer will focus on the ten most common close proximity attack scenarios. This class will employ leverage, technique and timing so that anyone, regardless of age or athletic ability, can make them work against larger opponents. This class will not focus on striking or kicking.

Participants in this workshop should expect to be introduced to a situation and obtain a basic understanding of tactics to address the most common scenarios so that they can practice on their own, show a friend to extend knowledge, or attend other classes to extend and reinforce their knowledge. Participants will be working in pairs and will be simulating scenarios, working on defenses, including close proximity and defense from the back and on the ground.

You should come in yoga attire or shorts because this can be a workout. Bring water and towel. Ignite the fight and channel your inner warrior!

Class size is limited to 30.
Age range is 10 - 15.

I Can Meditate! Beginner's Workshop

Meditation is the art of looking inside and discovering one’s own inner being. Meditation leads us not only to totally new inner experiences, but helps us also to transform our day-to-day life into a better, more meaningful and more fulfilling existence.

Join Ahoo in this workshop, where we will begin our discussion on what meditation is and common misconceptions of what meditation is not. We will explore different styles of meditation and their applicability. We will then move into a slow moving, stretching practice, sustaining postures, as we move deeper from the outer experience into an inner experience. This primes the mind and body for a 20 minute silent meditation sit, followed with a final integration and discussion. 

This workshop is based on a School of Kripalu method of yoga and meditation, learning to Ride the Waves of Sensation, as we lean into Focusing, Flowing and Letting Go. 

Ahoo has trained extensively in transformational meditation and mindfulness based stress reduction with senior instructors at the Kripalu School of Yoga and Ayurveda. Her focus is in the transformational abilities meditation brings to the art of yoga, it's ability to reduce stress and dissolve negative patterns and habits for a liberated state of being.

Yogi’s, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Chances are, we are have been personally affected or know someone who has been affected by this type of cancer. Every 1 in 8 women in the US will develop breast cancer in the course of her lifetime (breastcancer.org).

On Thursday, October 28th, we are hosting a class to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. Class will be 5:30-6:30PM and 100% of your $20 donation will go directly to research.
